Karna Kadur’s loss turned out to be Amittrajit Ghosh’s gain as the latter was crowned champion of the Coffee Day rally here on Saturday.

In the third round of the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship, Kadur (navigator Somonita Ghosh) took a 40-second penalty after checking out of the service park late after the last stage, elevating Ghosh to the top.

Karna overtook Ghosh after the Kolkata-based driver, driving the Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia suffered an electrical problem on the last stage of the day, pushing him to the second spot. Ghosh, however, completed the six Special Stages in a time of one hour, 21 minutes and 59.5 seconds, while Karna finished in a revised time of 1::22.08.3 to settle for second.

Bangalore’s Vikram Devadasen (navigator Somayya AG) finished third, clocking 1::22:40.9.
In the Indian Rally Championship, Zuhin A (navigator Musa Sherif), who led the table at the end of Friday’s Super Special Stage, exited after their Subaru Impreza had problems with the turbo-charging unit. K-1000 winner and favourite Lohitt Urs (navigator Sujith Kumar) of Team Horizon R3A too dropped out following an issue with their front suspension.
