A record that sets teeth on edge

 Murli K C, an assistant manager at an automotive manufacturing company in Bangalore, has achieved a strange world record.

He has been officially recognised by the Guinness Book of Records for opening the most number of beer bottles with his teeth in one minute.

Murli opened an incredible 68 bottles in one minute —more than one a second — to achieve this distinction.

“I used to be prodded by my friends to open beer bottles at various parties and gatherings and when they saw what I could do, they further motivated me to get recognition for it,” Murli said.

Following one of the procedures of the Guinness World Records, Murli demonstrated this feat in the midst of two prominent officials, recorded it and sent it to the Guinness officials for their scrutiny on September 17. He got the official certificate from Guinness about 20 days back

Murli will be officially recognised in the State, at a ceremony where he will be honoured by Principal Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Arvind Jannu on November 28.
