HC calls BDA mother of corruption'

 The High Court on Monday lambasted the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and its engineers over irregularities related to land deals in the City and called the Authority the “mother of corruption”.

Hearing a petition filed by South City Group Housing Owners’ Association, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy took the engineers from the BDA to task and said they did not execute any work without taking bribe.

“Engineers will be waiting and keeping a watch on multi-storey buildings coming up in different parts of the City. Whenever Lokayukta sleuths raid them, persons with more and more bribe money surface. The Authority has become like a bucket without a bottom and there is no end to corruption here,” he said.

Reddy said BDA engineers facilitate sons of ministers to get sites in the City. “They hardly do anything legally and are able to sell one site to five individuals easily,” he said.
