Future engineers take up challenges

E cube

Innovation was the prime objective of ‘E cube’, the two-day fest of the electricals and electronic engineering department of BMS College of Engineering, which was held recently. The colleges which participated include RV College of Engineering and CMRIT among others.

The students wanted to make the fest a multi-disciplinary affair. Hence, events based on all fields of engineering were
organised. However, what was clear was that a lot of effort and brainstorming had gone
into the fest. Events like ‘Titanic’ in which a student had to make a boat, a stress interview based on a popular programme, a rocket-launching competition
etc gave the students a platform to showcase their skills and abilities as future engineers. |

Students say that it was victory for them as the fest was organised after eight years.
“We had to convince our teachers to permit us to go ahead with the fest. It was a challenge for us as the fest had been discontinued for a long time. We worked hard and managed to present a good show,” says Divya, a final-year student.

The fest had a combination of technical and other events to help students develop their personality. It also had a variety of food stalls. The students explained that the fest was a team effort and despite the small glitches, everything was done systematically.
“Our teachers were very supportive and helped us in planning and organising things better. It was a combined effort by all the batches of the department, right from the first year to the final year,” informs Achint, a final-year student.

The core team had burnt the midnight oil and chalked out innovative events for
the fest. “We had a team of seven students who brainstormed and ideated the events for the fest. The events were not like the usual ones which required no skill. In fact, these events brought out the best in all the students,” says Roshan, a third-year student.
The technical events were followed by a small cultural programme, which had been organised by the department and a prize-distribution ceremony for the toppers of the batch.
