Workers built BJP, not leaders: Ashoka

 Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka said here on Friday that the BJP has been built by its workers and not leaders.

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa quitting the party to form Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) would not have any impact on the national party. The former chief minister has compromised his political future by forming the new political outfit, he added.

Ashoka told reporters here on Friday that Yeddyurappa quitting the party has hurt them all. Central and State leaders made all efforts to retain him in the party, but could not.

His quitting would not have any impact on the BJP as the party was dependent on workers and not leaders. Until party workers were with the party, it will survive, he added.

The BJP was in existence even before Yeddyurappa joined the party and will remain even after he quits. Party workers have built the party without any expectations. Many have not got anything in return, he added.

The KJP will not have any impact on the BJP or the government. Yeddyurappa does not have any political future in the KJP, he stated.

The Deputy chief minister said the party State unit would take action against party workers and leaders, including elected representatives who have joined hands with Yeddyurappa.

Until now, there were no problem with the party functionaries visiting the former chief minister as he was with the party, but today he has quit the BJP, Ashoka said.
