Ruling alliance sweeps J&K local polls

The ruling National Conference (NC)-Congress coalition won all the four seats   reserved for panchayat representatives in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, results of which were declared on Thursday.

Of the four LC seats which went for polls on December 3, NC and Congress bagged two seats each, much on the expected lines. The results were declared by the two Returning Officers for all four seats, two each in Kashmir and Jammu, at the end of counting at Srinagar and Jammu Thursday afternoon.

For the K-1 constituency of Kashmir province, NC candidate Ali Muhammad Dar defeated his nearest rival Peer Muhammad Hussain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by a margin of 2675 votes.
