'India has voted for a stable govt'

Last Updated 16 May 2009, 20:15 IST

Many find an economist as the PM at the time of economic crisis as an ideal choice.

People of India have voted very intelligently keeping the recession in mind. It is good that a stable government will be formed now. BJP led NDA Government has their own confusions, first it was Kalyan Singh quitting, then BJD changing its course and then the famous Varun Gandhi's hate speech. Dr Manmohan Singh is a great economist and he will do better during the recession.

BJP did not have a clear agenda. Their projection of the prime ministerial candidate was not strong and even their campaign failed. They always emphasised on 'Hindutva', projecting Narendra Modi as PM candidate, which could have made some difference among the Hindu voters. I am just happy that Mayawati will not be the PM .

Though BJP had won in the assembly elections last year, they have not done much development work. The UPA Government at the Centre did some work during their term and that is the reason they have been voted again for second term.  Hope both Governments at the Centre and State co-ordinate and bring about development in the State.

Rahul Gandhi's campaigning has got more votes for UPA. They will definitely work for development of the country.  Though I could not vote this time as my name was missing, I have always supported Congress party as they are secular. I do not know why BJP lost.

UPA has been voted again as they have kept their promises and commitments to a certain extent.  The BJP led NDA have always mentioned building the Ram temple in their speeches.  People of India do not want temples, they want development and UPA Government has brought about some changes.

“The Congress-led UPA can unite the country and bring about unity which a communal Bharatiya Janata Party cannot do. There are so many fresh, energetic, young faces in the Congress like who can bring in change. It’s comforting to have someone as capable as Manmohan Singh at the helm of affairs in time of recession.
