Congressman arrested in illicit liquor case

 Rajasthan Police on Tuesday arrested Dhar district Congress president and alleged liquor mafia Balmukund Gautam following an arrest warrant issued by Bhilwara court in connection with seizure of a tanker carrying pouches of illicit liquor in 2003.

The Bhilwara police had seized the tanker carrying 51,000 pouches of illicit liquor on August 3, 2003, under Subhash Nagar police station area there.

Then a case under Rajasthan Excise Act was registered against Major Singh, Inder Singh, Satyanarayan, Babloo, Yusuf and Balmukund Gautam, Jhabua district’s superintendent of police (SP) Krishnaveni Desavatu said.

Rajasthan police later arrested Major Singh, Inder Singh, Satyanarayan and Babloo in this regard and produced them in court, while Yusuf and Gautam were evading arrest.

However, the court later issued a permanent arrest warrant against Gautam, following which, he was arrested on Tuesday from a hotel in Lebad town in Dhar district by Rajasthan Police with the help of Dhar and Jhabua police, the SP said.

Information exchanged

The officer told that in view of the Assembly elections in Gujarat, a meeting to exchange information about criminals, absconding miscreants and those involved in various crimes took place in the police control room of neighbouring Dahod (Gujarat) district recently.
A meeting was also held by police at Jhabua, Krishnaveni Desavatu said.

In both the meetings, police officers of Dahod, Banswada and Jhabua districts exchanged necessary informations, she added.
