Deepa Mehta's film "Midnight's Children" has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and without any cuts. The filmmaker is "thrilled".

The movie is an adaptation of controversial author Salman Rushdie's 1980 Booker Prize-winning book of the same name.

"India here we come - intact! Great news - 'Midnight's Children' went through Indian censor board today without one pic cut. Salman Rushdie and I THRILLED," Mehta tweeted.
Rushdie joined in the excitement by tweeting "Fantastic!".

The film features an ensemble cast of Satya Bhabha, Shriya Saran, Siddharth, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Rahul Bose, Soha Ali Khan and Darsheel Safary.

Shot mostly in Sri Lanka, the film revolves around the national emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from June 1975 to March 1977.
