13 arrested for chain snatching

The West Division police recently arrested 13 people and solved 20 chain snatching and 25 house burglary cases. The police have recovered gold ornaments and silver articles worth Rs 65.5 lakh from the arrested.

Jnanabharathi police arrested two notorious chain snatchers, Lakshmikanth, 29, of Yeshwantpur and Babu, 35, of Nagamangala and solved 20 chain snatching cases.

They have recovered 839 gram of gold ornaments from the two. The arrested have allegedly snatched gold chains from lonely women and morning walkers in 11 instances in Jnanabharathi alone.

Cases were registered against them in Chennammanakere Achukattu, Kamakshipalya and Chandra Layout as well.

In another case, Kalasipalya police arrested three women, Kalavathi, 28, Venkatamma, 45, and Shantamma, 35, who were operating as a gang and targeting passengers in BMTC buses.

The police have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh from them, police added.

Worker falls to death

A construction worker fell to his death from the third floor of an under-construction building in Satya Sai Layout  Wednesday evening.

Ravi, 38, from Hoskote was carrying a cement bag from the second floor to the third when he lost balance and fell to the ground. Though he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, he was declared brought dead.

K R Puram police have registered a case against the owner of the building, Manikantan, for negligence.
