Khosla Ventures, a Menlo Park, California-based venture assistance firm founded by Indian venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, has roped in former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her business partners from RiceHadleyGates LLC, a strategic consulting firm, to bring global and domestic insight to Khosla’s portfolio companies.

Khosla Ventures said in an announcement on Friday that the involvement of Rice, who is a principal of RiceHadleyGates, would help it achieve its strategic goals in industries such as technology, energy, security and healthcare.

Khosla Ventures mostly focuses on funding and nurturing sustainability and IT startups.
Vinod Khosla said in a statement that the RiceHadleyGates team would bring in vast experience and insight to the table, which would contribute to the operational and strategic success of the firm’s portfolio companies.

In addition to Rice, RiceHadleyGates’ other principals include former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley, former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, and former State Department official Anja Manuel. They will provide strategic and political context to help Khosla’s portfolio companies make critical business decisions around expanding to markets.
