It was released by theatre personality Arundhati Nag and former actor Master Manjunath aka Swami of ‘Malgudi Days’ fame, who recalled R K Narayan’s contribution to literary work in the country and said he was among the greatest of English writers in the country.
Chief Post Master General M P Rajan and Director Postal Services K K Sharma released the five rupee commemorative stamp. The Postal department has issued at four lakh stamps and would be celebrating the on-going postal week upto October 15. It has also decided to release a stamp to honour Kannada matinee idol, the late Rajkumar on November 1, to mark Rajyotsava Day.
