Ragini Dwivedi has a lot going for her right now in terms of movies. But despite this, the confident actress likes to take things slow and be selective about the projects she takes up. Metrolife catches up with her to find out about her films and more.

“Bangari in Kannada and ‘Face to Face’, with Mammootty, in Malayalam have released. I’m in talks with some other directors in the Telugu and Tamil industries too,” says an excited Ragini. Is she aiming for Bollywood next? “Why not? There are no barriers between industries now and I’m open to any offer,” she replies.

Ragini has acted with the top names in the Kannada industry, including Upendra in Aarakshaka and Shivarajkumar in Shiva. Speaking about this experience, she says, “I think I’m very lucky to have got a chance to act with them. I feel obliged for all that I have learnt from them.”

“In each of the 16 movies that I have done, I’ve portrayed different roles. I think that is required, since it’s hard to get the audience’s attention otherwise. ‘Ragini IPS’, my upcoming film, is an action-packed movie with five fight sequences. It has me in a very strong, woman-oriented role — I play a police officer in it,” she adds.

When she isn’t shooting for a film or preparing for a role, the actress has her own ways to unwind and kill time.

“I do pot-painting when I have some time. I listen to a lot of good music and I try my best to catch up with friends, as they always complain that I’m too busy,” she says, with a laugh.

Ragini is one of the tallest actresses in the industry. “People used to tell me that I would never succeed as an actress as I was too tall. But it’s turned out to my advantage now. People relate to me and identify me because of my height,” she elaborates.

So what does she have to say to up-and-coming actresses and models? Ragini answers in a confident tone, “Keep it original. Natural beauty should never be taken for granted. Don’t try to be someone else. Just be yourself. Don’t compare yourself with anyone; I hate being compared with
people.”
