'Keep on hold CJ Dinakaran elevation to apex court'

The Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishan in a meeting here decided to ask the government to keep on hold the name of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran for his elevation to the apex court, sources said. However, an official at the CJI’s office said, “No decision was taken at the meeting.”

According to an official source, the collegium in a letter asked the government to appoint Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Ananga Kumar Patnaik, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Tirath Singh Thakur, Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Surinder Singh Nijjar, and Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court K S Radhakrishnan to the apex court.
