Police are yet to nab absconding gang rape accused Raju and Akshay Thakur despite several teams working round the clock to conduct raids at possible hidouts in Bihar and Rajasthan.

Sources claimed that cops  do not have many details about Raju’s actual identity and have questioned over 25 people with the name.

Main accused Ram Singh told police that Raju had no specific address in the Capital and used to meet him once in months.

“Ram claimed that Raju had come for a small party at his home in Ravi Dass Camp at RK Puram sector 3 on Sunday. Raju left after their joyride, and Ram has not been in contact with him,” a police official said.

Police now believe that Raju may be hiding anywhere in the country. Interrogation of Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma has also not been of too much help, sources said, adding police suspect that Raju may be hiding in Rajasthan.

“Mukesh was nabbed in Rajasthan, making us believe that Raju might have fled with Mukesh after the news of the gang rape flashed,” the official said.

A five-member team has managed to locate Akshay’s family in Bihar’s Aurangabad district. “We have questioned Akshay’s father Saryu Singh, a marginal farmer, and younger brother Abhay after tracing them to Lahankarma village. They were let off after questioning,” the official said.

The team, accompanied by Bihar Police, also spoke to villagers to secure information about Akshay. It has come light that Akshay had recently left the village for a job in Delhi.
“We have enough information to nab Akshay soon. It is possible that he may be hiding at his relatives’ homes in Bihar,” the official added.
