Facing some tough questions

Close fight

Adarsh Quest 2012’ , a business quiz for management students, was recently held in the City. This inter-college quiz was organised by the students of SRN Adarsh College.

More than 60 colleges participated in the quiz. “We had more than 70 teams taking part, as some colleges had sent in two teams from their institute. To add quality to our quiz fest, we had asked a professional quizmaster to conduct the session and he was the one who selected the questions,” says Ankit, a final-year student of the college.

The quiz was informative as well as entertaining, as the quizmaster used innovative methods to stump the teams. PPT slides as well as audio-visual hints were used to add more variety to the quiz. What made the session more interesting was that there was a special round for the audience, where questions were thrown open to the house. Anyone who could answer the question was rewarded with gifts. Students say that they worked hard to make the event a success and the turnout at the quiz was their biggest reward. “We travelled for eight hours at a stretch and invited colleges from across the City. It is really rewarding to see that so many colleges have participated in the quiz. Since we are the host college, we did not participate in the event to keep it unbiased,” adds Naresh, also a final-year student.

The biggest challenge for the students was arranging sponsorship, but they say that the industry was pretty supportive. “We approached many corporates and noted companies for sponsorship and none of them refused. They were very supportive and helped us a lot. Our faculty helped us by providing the contacts and the rest of the ground work was done by the students,” adds Naresh.

Chetan, a first-year student, says that there was a lot of excitement and hard work attached to the event. “We stayed up late at night, prepared the stage and put up the banner. It was a combined effort by the seniors as well as the juniors and the outcome is very satisfying — the numbers have matched our expectations,” he notes.
Christ College was the winner of the quiz competition while M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology was the runner-up.
