Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday said there is no need to pay much attention to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s statement that the Karnataka government has lost the moral right to continue in office.

“He (Yeddyurappa) has been saying this. There is nothing new in it. There is no need to attach much importance to his statements,” the chief minister told reporters who sought his reaction to Yeddyurappa’s statement.

Sources said that Yeddyurappa is upset with the recent removal of chairpersons of all boards and corporations, including many who were loyal to him, by the government. The BJP, core committee in a recent meeting had decided to make fresh appointments to all boards and corporations.

Sources in the KJP said that Yeddyurappa has convened the party’s State executive committee meeting in the first week of January to decide its future step. Asked about fresh appointments to boards and corporations, Shettar said the decision in this regard will be taken soon.
