Last Updated 12 October 2009, 17:31 IST

Addressing party workers on the occasion of the 43rd death anniversary of the socialist ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia here on Monday, Yadav asked the partymen to visit the dalit households and win their support.

He said that the party workers and leaders should “camp” in the villages and serve the poor and dalits in an effort to rejuvenate the party at the grassroot level. Yadav also expressed serious concern over alleged pumping of counterfeit currency notes from across the border and demanded a thorough probe into it.

“I have definite information that Pakistan, China and Nepal are being used as conduits for fake currency that is being pumped into the country to weaken the economy. He alleged that the Centre was trying to downplay the whole issue,” he alleged. Yadav attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said that he was the “weakest Prime Minister the country has ever seen.” The Samajwadi Party president also criticised UPA government for its failure to check price rise. “Prices of essential commodities have shot up considerably,” he said.
