Ruth, Mira enter final

Top seed Ruth Misha Vinod stormed into the women’s singles final with a 22-20, 21-5 win over eight seed Savita RN in their semifinal in the Chettinad Cement Sadashivanagar Five-star State-ranking badminton tournament here on Friday.

In the final, Ruth will face fourth seed Mira Mahadevan, who defeated Uttara Prakash 21-14, 21-12 in her semifinal.

In the men’s section, top seed Arvind Bhat made it to the semifinals overcoming Mithun Manjunath with little trouble. Arvind won 21-8, 22-20, while Prakash Jolly K and Rohan Castelino too advanced. Anup Kiran MD ousted second seed Suraj RN 21-19, 13-21, 21-10 en route to the semis.
