The Department of Posts is also launching Money Order Videsh (MOV) by which money orders can be sent across the globe. Currently, post offices receive money from foreign countries though Western Union. MOV will be launched on October 24, Alok Sharma, General Manager, Department of Posts, told reporters here on Wednesday.

The department is also planning to launch “flat rate box”, which enables customers to send articles by paying a fixed price—the prices are Rs 1000 for 1 kg box, Rs 1500 for 2.5 kg box. The postal department’s gold coin selling scheme has been extended to 500 post offices.
