People's Problems

Wretched roads

Trucks loaded with sand and gravel (jelly stones) are parked daily on both sides of the road on the Kottigepalya-Gollarahatti stretch of Magadi Road.

Though the road widening work was taken up three years ago, the quality of asphalting and widening work is poor and not uniform.

The congestion of the road due to parking of trucks, the sand which is spilt on the road and the substandard work has caused problems for road users. There are also no streetlights on the road. We request the authorities to take up immediate action in this regard.

Streetlights not switched off

Streetlights are not switched off during the day time on the 2nd main road in Prashanthnagar. Complaints to the Energy Minister and the Assistant Engineer
concerned resulted in the lights being switched off for some days.

But once again, the lights are not being switched off, despite Bescom authorities advising BBMP South Circle to turn off the lights at dawn. The authorities are requested to resolve the problem permanently.

Power disruption
An electricity pole was shifted to an adjacent plot by the Bescom authorities at Singanayakahalli in Rajankunte, to facilitate construction of a compound wall. But the wiring works were not done properly, resulting in
disruption of power supply in eight houses in the vicinity. Complaining to the lineman and junior engineer did not help. It is in the interest of the residents, if the problem is fixed at the earliest.

Exorbitant parking fee

A sum of Rs 20 is charged as car parking charges at Cantonment Railway Station for a mere 10 minutes. The attendants there say the minimum parking fee is Rs 20 for the first two hours. The minimum parking fee at the City Railway Station is Rs 10. The authorities must look into the anomaly.

Complete underpass work

It has taken two years to undertake work on the underpass (of a mere one km) at CNR Rao Circle, causing inconvenience to the road users. If the Palike is so starved of funds, it can collect money from in donation boxes kept near the temporary underpass. The long-delayed work must be finished at the earliest.

Repair roads
The road condition in areas surrounding Kadubisanahalli, especially at Panathur road junction, is abysmal. These roads are a part of the famed Outer Ring Road. The underpass construction work was completed recently at the expense of these “connecting” roads. I request the authorities concerned to ensure that the connecting roads are repaired.

Palike turns Bingipura into landfill

The BBMP and its contractors have converted S Bingipura village, off Bannerghatta Road, into a landfill site and are dumping the City’s garbage there.

Initially, they used to dump garbage in the open fields. A high-rise compound was constructed around the place recently. A banner has also come up, indicating the blueprint of a proposed park on the site, to divert the attention of innocent villagers.

The villagers are facing untold miseries because of this. It is hoped that garbage segregation and disposal is done in a sensible and scientific way.

Repair Suranjandas road
The Suranjandas Road connects two major roads - the Old Airport Road and Old Madras Road. The road is very congested due to heavy vehicular traffic and the road widening work. Also, the stretch from BEML Circle to HAL main gate junction is in very bad condition, with a number of potholes. The officials are requested to do the needful.

Night bus service required
The G3 and G4 Big 10 bus services of the BMTC from Brigade Road junction to Electronics City has helped commuters a great deal. But there are hardly any of these buses operating after 9 pm. There are many commuters, especially women, from Brigade Road to Electronics City after 8 pm. The authorities must ply more of these buses after 9 pm.

Building byelaws are being violated in the construction of ground plus five floors, without providing setbacks or car parking, on the road from Kundalahalli gate to Sai Baba temple. Even the mandatory two feet space is not provide between buildings. Corrective steps must be taken in these buildings to prevent mishaps and damage to neighbouring buildings in future.

Re-install traffic light

The traffic light in front of Mallya Hospital which allowed pedestrians to cross the road has been removed. It is impossible to cross this road now. Vehicle users do not care to slow down for pedestrians. The police must reintroduce the traffic light.

Clear garbage
The vacant site on # 187 on Nagarbhavi main road in Canara Bank Colony has turned into a garbage dumping yard as the owner has not bothered to visit the site in the past 15 to 20 years.
