Three killed in separate accidents

Three people have been killed in separate accidents in the city.

A sweeper was killed on the spot after he was knocked down by a bike on the elevated flyover on Hosur Road on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased is Gangya (55), a native of Andhra Pradesh and a resident of Madiwala.

Employed by a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike garbage-clearing contractor, Gangya was sweeping the flyover, when he was knocked down at around 12.30 pm.
The rider and the pillion rider were also injured in the accident and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The identity of the two is yet to be established, said the police.

Bike bus collision
In the other accident, a two-wheeler rider died on the spot, while the pillion rider was injured in a head-on collision between a schoolbus and a bike in front of the Country Club on Bannerghatta Road on Wednesday evening.

The deceased is Ravi L (36), a BMTC bus driver from Kammanahalli. The pillion rider Martin (45), a resident of Hommadevanahalli, is being treated at a hospital, said the police.

The accident occurred at around 6.30 pm, when Ravi was taking Martin to a hospital at Weavers’ Colony.

Jagadish P, the driver of the Presidency School bus, took a turn to avoid a collision with a bike that entered the road from inside the club. He lost control of the vehicle and collided with Ravi’s bike coming from the opposite direction, said the police.

Ravi and Martin were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Ravi was declared brought dead.

There were no students in the bus. The police arrested Jagadish and seized the bus.

Van mows security guard
A 55-year-old security guard was mowed down by a van, at Garvebavipalya in Madiwala on Wednesday night. The deceased is Lingappa, a resident of Madiwala.

The accident occurred in front of the office of HGS company, when he was returning home on his bike. The van driver abandoned the vehicle on the spot and fled, said the police.
