Govt employees in Malnad to get hill allowance: Jeevraj

UGD work will be completed in Chikmagalur by November

District-in-Charge Minister D N Jeevraj has said that the government employees in Malnad will get hill allowance shortly. The State government will give its nod for the proposal. 

Speaking to presspersons after taking part in Republic Day celebrations, he said the government employees have been demanding hill allowance for long.

He said electronic machine should be installed in all the rations shops. If the ration shop owners failed to get adjusted with weighing-cum-PoS machines, then they should appeal to the authorities in writing, then such ration shops will be given to creative Sthree Shakthi groups to manage.

The Minister said that Speaker K G Bopaiah has not committed any mistake. He has been working within the framework of the Constitution. The MLAs who have tendered resignation are engaged in political gimmick.

Earlier, delivering the Republic Day celebrations, he said that the State government is committed to the development of the district. Under Pradhanmanthri Gram Sadak Yojana, 88 work worth Rs 126 crore has been completed. About 463 km road has been developed. In the second phase of ‘Namma Grama Namma Rasthe,’ about 151 km road worth Rs 61 crore will be taken up. A sum of Rs 456.87 lakh has been deposited into the accounts of 10,393 farmers under Suvarna Bhoomi yojana in the district. Bhagyalakshmi bonds have been given to 28,362 children.

Computers have been distributed to 155 schools in the district. All the higher primary schools will get computers in the next academic year, the Minister said.

He said that a sum of Rs 67 crore was released under Chief Ministers’ Small Town Development programme. About 65 per cent of the UGD work has been completed. The UGD work will be completed by November.

Tourism department has taken up development work in and around Sringeri at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Rs 3.97 crore has been released for the development of tourist spots in Balehonnur, Rs one crore for taking up development work in Belavadi and Antharaghatta.

Stating that the government has given permission for the setting up of medical college in Chikmagalur, the Minister said all efforts will be made to provide basic facilities to the government first grade colleges. Shimoga University PG centre will be opened at Aldoor. Polytechnic College has been sanctioned to Aldoor and N R Pura. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Residential School will be opened in the district, he added.
