Jeevijaya clarifies on misuse of land

I am ready for any kind of inquiry

Somwarpet former MLA Jeevijaya has said that he does not know how government land was sanctioned under akrama-sakrama scheme in the name of his mother-in-law Revathamma, who is no more.

It may be recalled that District-in-Charge Minister Appachu Ranjan had alleged that she was allotted the land in Biligeri village under akrama-sakrama.

Jeevijaya said that revenue officials should be held responsible for sanctioning the land without looking into the background of the applicant. “I have not committed any mistake,” he re-iterated.

Stating that he was not involved in sanctioning 5.86 acre land in the name of his mother-in-law, Minister Appachu Ranjan who had levelled allegations against me can approach Lokayukta or the CBI court. “I am ready for any kind of inquiry,” he said.

“I had read reports on allegations by the District-in-Charge Minister. I do not have any knowledge on sanctioning of the government land in the name of my mother-in-law. The Minister had not given me any documents. I can give further details once I get complete documents,” Jeevijaya said.

“Normally, revenue officials place the applications before Akrama Sakrama committee seeking regularisation of the encroached land. Before placing the applications, revenue insepctor, village accountant, Shirasthedara and Tahsildar verify the applications. The officials would have placed the application of Revathamma without verifying it.”

“I was the MLA from Somwarpet constituency during 2007. The committee was constituted during my last term. As a result, only two meetings were held. We had received several applications and all the applications could not be verified. When Minister had all the documents against me, why he did not approach the court of law. Why did he release documents to the media. Is it for getting publicity when the election is fast approaching?” he asked.

“The Minister must be levelling allegations against me in the fear of losing the election. His family members have encroached hundreds of acres of government land under Akrama Sakrama. To hide the facts, he has levelled false allegations against me,” Jeevijaya said.

JD(S) district unit President V P Shashidhar too alleged that the Minister had tried to woo him to contest from BSP ticket from Somwarpet constituency during the last Assembly elections. “Appachu Ranjan had promised to bear the expenses of the election. I am ready for truth test before any God. Whether he is ready for truth test?” he asked.
“Ranjan wanted to divide the Congress votes by fielding me from BSP ticket. I had rejected his offer and refused to contest,” he said.
