Man held for killing friend over Rs 2,000

A 30-year-old man was arrested for killing a friend in a drunken brawl  over Rs 2,000 that had gone missing at Outer Delhi’s Alipur.

Chhote, who hails from Farukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from near his hometown on Monday, said deputy commissioner of police (outer) B S Jaiswal.

The police officer said that the body of a man — later identified as Sarvesh — was found on the floor in the pool of blood in a locked room.

Police found Sarvesh was from Kanpur and found dead in Chhote’s rented accommodation in Alipur.
After raids at various places, Chhote was arrested from near his hometown on Monday and brought to Delhi on Tuesday.

Chhote told police that he and Sarvesh consumed alcohol at Sarvesh’s house on December 18. Chhote slept for some time and when he woke up, he found Rs 2,000 missing and suspected that Sarvesh had stolen it.
Over this, an argument broke out between them and Sarvesh slapped him.

At that time, Chhote did not retaliate though he felt insulted and returned to his rented room, where he consumed alcohol. Meanwhile, Sarvesh too reached there and apologised for his behaviour. This was followed by another drinking session.

While consuming liquor, they picked up the fight again on the same issue. In a fit of anger, Chhote hit Sarvesh with the bedpost twice on his head due to which Sarvesh collapsed. Chhote locked the room from outside and fled to his hometown.
