Last Updated 06 June 2016, 20:28 IST

The Chandra Layout police claimed to have solved a recent murder by arresting Nagaraj (42), a resident of Arundathinagar in their jurisdiction.

The police said Nagaraj had hacked to death his one-time friend Rajanna to death on May 20 over land dispute. Some four years ago, Nagaraj had mediated with a land deal with Rajanna on behalf of his acquaintances. Though the plot in question was a disputed one, Rajanna had kept Nagaraj and his acquaintance in dark about it. He had collected Rs 3.5 lakh along with his commission.

Despite repeated requests by Nagaraj, Rajanna did not bother to settle the dispute. On May 20, an irate Nagaraj went inside a building in Chandra Layout where Rajanna was watching an IPL match on television. After some heated arguments, Nagaraj left the place and called Rajanna for a discussion to the Chandra Layout bus stand. When Rajanna arrived, he attacked him with a stick and fled. Rajanna was rushed to a private hospital, but he was declared brought dead, said the police.
