TCS posts Q2 revenue of Rs 7,435.23 cr

Total Income of the firm for the reporting quarter has increased from Rs 6784.45 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 to Rs 7426.60 crore, while net revenue during the period rose from

Rs 6953.37 crore to Rs 7435.37 crore, showing a rise of 6.92 per cent.

TCS’ stand-alone a net profit of Rs 1347.60 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 1173.04 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008, an increase of 14.88 per cent.

The stand-alone revenue increased from Rs 5520.79 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 to Rs 5719.04 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 up 3.59 per cent, while net sales during the period rose 0.78 per cent to Rs 5744.40 crore as against Rs 5699.96 crore in the comparable quarter of the last fiscal.

Interim dividend

TCS declared a Second Interim Dividend of Rs. 2/- per equity share of Re. 1/- each of the Company.  EPS (earning per share) stood at Rs 8.38 in Q2. Commenting on the results, TCS Managing Director N Chandrasekaran said “TCS seen an improvement in market conditions and delivered a sterling performance inspite of client budgets being tightly managed. The investments made by TCS in its market footprint and its full services offering holds us in good stead to capitalise on emerging growth opportunities.”

During Q2, there was a gross addition of 5,530 employees (net addition of 320) and the attrition was at 11.4 per cent LTM (low thermal mass) including BPO.
