The Deccan Herald Theatre Festival will be showcasing two plays on February 9 and 10, 7.30 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. On February 9, DreamScope Theatre will present ‘Field of Poppies’, directed by Puja Goyal.

The cast includes Tushar Patil and Dipti Laigude. The play revolves around Edward, who suffered a terrible and devastating incident that has marred his memory, due to which he refuses to remember his beloved wife. Memories of her lie dormant inside of him; carefully preserved, until another woman comes into his life to help him remember.

Edward battles the demons of his past and the persistent questioning of the psychiatrist Anne. He prefers to inhabit the walls of an asylum rather than face the realities. This is where the story starts and ends, almost frozen in time. ‘Field of Poppies’ is a play about eternal love that resides in the realms of our hearts.

In February 10, Theatre Lab will present ‘Plaza Suite’, directed by Prakash Belawadi. The cast includes Sharon White, Anil Abraham, Jonathan Smith and Maya Bashyam in Act 1 and Hema Narayan, Bimal Desai, Christo Wilfred and Sahana Desai in Act 2. ‘Plaza Suite’ is a comedy with acts that portray the separate stories of visitors to Suite 719 at New York’s Plaza Hotel. Act I is about ‘The Visitor from Mamaroneck’  and Act 2 is ‘The Visitor from Forest Hills’. Taken together, the two vignettes take the audience from a poignant, sadly funny Act 1 to a hilarious Act 2. Throughout the journey, the suite at the Plaza Hotel is a constant and character in itself. To buy tickets, call 25880147/ 25880141.
