Graceful steps

Saraswati Gana Sabha and SGBS Trust is organising a dance recital by Kiran Subramanyam and Sandhya Kiran and the ‘Rasika Dance Ensemble’, as part of the ‘Aaradhana Celebrations of Thyagaraja Swami and Purandara Dasa’.  

 The event will be held ton February 10, 7 pm at Unnati Centre, Ganesha Temple Road, NGEF Layout, Sadananda Nagar.

Vocal delight

As part of the ‘Spring Music Festival’, organised by the Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, there will be two vocal concerts on February 9 and 10. Vishaka Hari will perform on February 9 and Sudha Raghunathan will perform on February 10. Both the concerts will start at 5.45 pm and will be held at the auditorium of Bangalore Gayana Samaja, K R Road.

Classical touch

Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs and Nadanubhava Foundation will present a Hindustani classical vocal concert by Nitin Dhawlikar and team on February 9, 6 pm at the Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, Bull Temple Road (Opposite BMS Engineering College), N R Colony. Odissi recital

Nrithya Shilpa will present an odissi dance recital by Kshama Rau and her disciples on February 9, 6.30 pm, at Suchitra Film Society Auditorium, 36 B V Karanth Road, Banashankari 2nd Stage.

Fireflies festival

The ‘Fireflies Spring Festival of Music’ will be held on February 10, from 12 noon to 10 pm at Fireflies Inter-Cultural Centre, off Kanakapura Road. The artistes performing are sufi and qawwali singers from Kutch, Mukhtiyar Ali, Floyd Fernandes, Sangeet Sadhana, Thalavattam,  ‘Emam and Friends’, ‘Spinifex’ from Netherlands, Vedanth and Bindu, ‘Bahh Band’ from Ireland. ‘Bonjour India’

Bonjour India, the colourful India-France cultural exchange, is being held in the City. As part of it there will be a graphical concert ‘Bangalore 360’ by Puce Muse, on February 9, 7.30 pm at the St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral. On February 10, 6.45 pm,
a French band called the ‘Scratch Bandits Crew’ will perform as part of Unmaad
at the Indian Institute of
Management, Bangalore.

Dual treat

Ranjani Fine Arts will be holding its first ‘Annual Festival’ in the City. As part of this, there will be two classical vocal concerts. T M Krishna will perform on February 9,
5 pm. Ranjani and Gayatri will perform on February 10,
5 pm. Both the concerts will be held at New Horizon College of Engineering, Outer Ring Road, near Marathahalli.

‘A Picture of You’

Pedestrian Pictures and ‘MARAA’ is holding a film screening of ‘A Picture of You’ by Ajay Noronha on February 9, 6 pm at Institution of Agricultural Technologists, Queen’s Road, Vasanth Nagar. The film traces a cinematographer’s journey to piece together an image of his father who passed away when he was six. The film-maker will be present for a discussion after the screening. Entry is free.

‘They Said’

‘MARAA’ is organising two interesting performances by ‘Space Theater Ensemble’ on February 10, 3 pm at the Bandstand, Cubbon Park. ‘They Said’ is a performance in voice and movement that decries violence against women. ‘Woman River’ is a small composition based on the poetic links that bind a larger dramatic work written by Ujwala Samarth. Entry is free.

Talk time

Soothing notes

Nadaranjani Sangeetha Sabha, Basaveswaranagar is organising ‘Sri Purandara Dasara Punya Divasa and Saint Sri Tyagaraja Swamy Aradhana Celebrations’ on February 9.

The programme will be held at Dharini Mahila Sangha Premises, Behind Post Office, Basaveshwaranagar, from 10 am onwards.
There will be a special concert from 5.30 pm onwards by S Mahathi (vocal), R Sivakumar (violin) and Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam). For details, call 23231800.

Varied genres

‘The Human Capsule’, a group of youngsters who have come together from different colleges, will perform on February 9, between 6.30 pm and 8 pm at 1 MG Road. Starcentre.

The group will perform song from various genres like country music, reggae and classic rock.

The band consists of Sandeep and Musab from ‘The Bangalore School of
Music’, Abhishek and Vedansh.

‘The Sketches’

‘The Ugly One’

Akvarious, the Mumbai-based group will present ‘The Ugly One’ by Marius von Mayenburg on February 9, 8 pm and on February 10, 3 pm and 6.30 pm at Jagriti

The play will be staged as part of ‘Curtain Raisers’, a festival of theatre groups, organised by Jagriti.

Sri Raghavendra Swamy

Mission Karnataka Kendra is presenting Purandara Dasara Aradhana on February 10 from 10 am to 8 pm at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mission Karnataka Kendra, Indiranagar.
