MNC staffer robbed, police nab three

 Three drunk men roughed up an MNC employee and robbed her of Rs 1,500 in cash after forcibly entering her house at Nagagondanahalli early Wednesday.

Three men attacked Neelima, 24, who was opening the doors of her third-floor house after returning from her workplace in Kadugodi.

After roughing up Neelima, the trio ransacked her house and snatched Rs 1,500 from her. As the intruders moved out, she locked the door and shouted for help.

On hearing her screams, her neighbours rushed out of their homes and one of them alerted the police. A Hoysala patrol squad reached the spot immediately and, the police caught the three men from an adjoining street, the police said.

The arrested have been identified as Manjunath, 25, Murali, 22, and Harish, 22. Another person who was suspiciously moving around in the area was also detained by the police. The police seized a sports utility-vehicle in which the trio had planned to escape. Police suspect that the trio had trailed Neelima who had stopped at an ATM counter while coming home in an autorickshaw.

Elderly woman duped

Posing as police, two men duped an elderly woman and made away with around 80 grams of her gold jewellery in Kengeri on Wednesday morning.

 Two men on a motorcycle accosted Rajalakshmamma, 60, a resident of Kengeri while she was on her way to the local market, and introduced themselves as policemen.

They told her that there has been an increase in chain snatching incidents in the area. One of them pulled out a small bag and made the elderly woman remove her gold chain and put it in to the bag.

He gave the bag to the woman who later found that it was empty. The two had diverted her attention and given her an empty bag while they had made away with the one that had the gold chain, the police said. Kengeri Police have registered a case.

6 arrested

Acting on a tip-off, sleuths from the CCB raided a gambling den on Avalahalli main road and arrested six men.

According to the police, the arrested, Satish, Suresh, Avinash, Krishnamurthy, Raghu and Venkatesh were into gambling at a temporary shed.

During the raid, the police seized stake money of Rs 50,030. A case has been registered in the Byatarayanapura police station.
