A peek at past tragedies

Jyoti Nivas College recently conducted a talk by Indian environmentalist and social activist Father Thomas Kocherry on ‘A World Free of Nuclear Weapons and Globalisation’.  Many of the students were not aware of the intricacies of this critical issue and were awestruck with the facts and figures shared.

At the talk, the feasibility and pros and cons of nuclear power were discussed, while nuclear tragedies like those at Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Chernobyl were studied at length. Questioning mankind’s hunger for supremacy and implications of the world going to nuclear war, it acted as a much-needed reality check for each and every student present.
