The inquiry committee led by the deputy commissioner which had conducted an inquiry on illegality in Akshara Dasoha scheme, has reported that misappropriation has taken place only in Somwarpet taluk and not in Virajpet and Madikeri taluks, said Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K B Anjanappa.

He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the Zilla Panchayat at Old Fort hall in Madikeri on Thursday. Responding to a query by ZP member B B Bharathish, the ZP CEO said that as per the inquiry, food grains suppliers were responsible for the illegality, which had resulted in supply of less quantity of grains to the schools. Complaints have been filed against the suppliers and the police will file a chargesheet soon after all the necessary documents were submitted to them. As the case is now in the court, the loss incurred due to the misappropriation could be recovered as per the court’s order, he said.

The officer’s response could not pacify Bharathish, who questioned the reason for delay in filing complaint against the suppliers, despite him exposing the illgality in the month of July. “As I have submitted all the required documents about the misappropriation taken place in Somwarpet taluk, it has been portrayed as though misappropriation is taken place only in Somwarpet and not in others taluks. Illegality has cast its shadow even in schools in Virajpet and Madikeri taluks and I have proof for the same,” he alleged.
Even as heated arguments were going on about the misappropriation, the difference of
opinion among the ruling BJP members came to the fore.

If Bharathish demanded for conducting inquiry in all the government schools of three taluks, Ravi Kushalappa opposed the same, as he said that he would accept the report submitted by the inquiry committee.
Zilla Panchayat President B Shivappa who interfered into the discussion urged the the members  to personally take up inquiry by visiting to schools in their jurisdiction, along with the trustworthy officers.
