After Helen, Margarita, it's Krishna and Kaveri

With tunnel boring machine, Margarita, achieving breakthrough at Vidhana Soudha station and Helen completing the task, the job assigned to both the machines is over.

It is now the turn of Kaveri and Krishna, which have increased the pace of tunneling along south corridor of Namma Metro, near KR Market.

Officials said as part of the tunnelling work from south ramp to Majestic, the first machine (Kaveri) for the north bound tunnel has progressed up to120 metres. The second machine (Krishna) for south bound tunnel has progressed up to 99 metres.

As far as the stations on the stretch are concerned, all 848 numbers of secent piles have been completed at Chickpet Station and excavation of 85,936 cum completed out of 1,65,757 cum. At City Market station, excavation of 90,701 cum completed out of 1,63,566 cum.

At the underground Majestic interchange station, secent piling work of 1,922 numbers has been completed out of 2037 numbers. Excavation of 1,46,373 cum completed out of 4,32,250 cum. A total of 945 numbers of soil anchors have been completed out of 3,550 numbers. Temporary road decking work at Dharmambudi Road is in progress.

“Another important milestone at Majestic interchange is erection of wailers and struts in progress at the junction where two corridors (North-south and East-West) are to meet,” said a BMRCL official.
