When you are out for a night at a bar, all you might think of is a smooth drink to sip, and a few good friends to hang out with.

Changing this and making bartending a form of entertainment by showcasing different moves were the ‘Word Flair Champions’ Tomek Malek and Marek Posluszny, who were in the City recently.

Different taps, bumps, and swirls with bartending equipment like shakers and strainers, were showcased by Tomek and Marek, which amazed everyone.

Both the flair enthusiasts explained and talked about the different styles of flair bartending.

“There are mainly two different styles of flair bartending — American style, which is more of juggling, and the second, the European style, which is full of different movements,” detailed Marek Posluszmy.

The event, which was a part of the third edition of ‘BOLS Celebrity Cocktail Session’, also tried to clear the notion of brandy being an old-fashioned drink after dinner.
Despite a few occasional drops caused by flashing of lights and restriction of space, the twosome gave a spirited performance.

After both of them showcased different moves, which won them the different
competitions they have participated in, Tomek created a new cocktail named  ‘Tomarek’. “This is an easy-to-blend cocktail that includes brandy, flavoured orange, originating from the island of Curatao, and a part of lemon juice. I presented the cocktail using the shake-and-strain flair tending technique,” explained Tomek.

He added, “The drink has citrus flavours with a subtle woody taste that make it
perfect.”

While making the drink, Tomek and Marek dipped a straw into the cocktail and tasted it before presenting it to the audience.

“Lemons and limes taste different in different areas. Also one lime may be sourer than the other. This can spoil a great drink. That’s why we tested if the drink was okay,” said Tomek and Marek, in unison.

Presenting various movements with different props, both the artistes laid importance on how sometimes “the performers focus so much on the most difficult moves that they may falter at the easiest moves”.

They created different cocktails offering other options like adding strawberries to the drink, instead of lemon.
