No need for CM to prove majority: Guv

Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj has said that the Jagadish Shettar-led BJP government has proved its majority in the Budget session and there is no need for it to prove it again.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, Bhardwaj said he would not interfere in the government’s affairs at this juncture when the elections are round the corner. His comment came when reporters asked him about the action he would take in the wake of the resignation of two ministers.

“It's a constitutional matter. There is no need right now for me to interfere. Also, there is no need for the government to prove it majority, which it has done while presenting the budget,” said Bhardwaj.

He said the government had not slipped into a minority yet. But if more MLAs resign, he may have to take a fresh look at the developments.

He said the budget session was already over and the election dates would be announced shortly.
