Minor raped by landlord

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the owner of the house where she lived with her family at south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur on Monday.

The accused has been arrested.

According to police, the incident took place when the victim was alone and her parents had gone to a nearby market on Monday evening.

The girl said Sumit Kumar came to the house at around 7 pm and left when he was told that her parents were not at home.

Sumit, however, returned after some time.

When the victim allowed him inside the house, he locked the main door.

Sumit allegedly raped the girl and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anybody.

The girl told her parents about the incident, who approached police.

A case of rape was registered against Sumit after the girl’s medical examination was conducted at AIIMS.

He also faces charges under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
