<p> <br />S V Venkateshamurthy, a former Assistant General Manager (Equipment & Planning) in BSNL, Karnataka Circle was convicted by I S Antin, 21st Additional City Civil & Sessions (Special) Judge under sections 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.<br /><br />According to a press release, CBI’s Anti-corruption Branch monitored Venkateshamurthy’s income between October 01, 1991 and November 11, 2001. <br /><br />Two sites <br /><br />During this period, he received Rs 27,62,353 from salary and other sources, whereas he had assets worth Rs 15,75,392 including two sites and a house in Bangalore. <br />He had no savings for investments and purchase of properties. <br /><br />He was also found to have received money from Techno Ceramics India Pvt Ltd, Kolkata and other firms. A charge sheet was filed against him in the said Court on April 22, 2003 which culminated in his conviction.<br /></p>
