'BJP will work towards integrated devt of city'

About 50 per cent of the population will be in towns and cities by 2030. There is a need to prepare ourselves to cater to the needs of the citizens, when the city grows, said Minister for Law and Urban Development Suresh Kumar.

Speaking after releasing BJP manifesto for the MCC polls here on Friday, he said that multi-level car parking, and drinking water projects will be taken up. In the last five years, the MCC had received highest funds compared to last 25 years.

“The BJP has given good governance and will work towards the integrated development of the city.”

“We will respond to the needs of the people by providing basic infrastructure facilities,” he added.

Assembly Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat said that the work on supplying 24X7 water to the residents of 60 wards is in its final stage. All measures will be taken to improve interior roads.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and BJP district unit former president Prathap Simha Nayak among others were present.

In Udupi

The Udupi district unit too released manifesto for the ULB polls on Friday.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat has said that almost all promises made during 2007 elections have been fulfilled except for the Manipal-Kalyanpur-Adi Udupi-Malpe drainage system and Malpe-Padukere bridge.

Speaking after releasing the BJP election manifesto, the MLA said that in the last five years development work worth Rs 163 crore were taken up in the Udupi CMC limits.
Out of the total amount spent on development of infrastructures, the State government had released Rs 136 crore.

The manifesto promises the people in Udupi CMC limits with the full-fledged drainage system. Besides, the widening of Adi Udupi-Malpe stretch, Manipal-Athradi stretch and Manipal-DC office stretch are the highlights of the manifesto.

The manifesto also comprises of initiatives to take up projects like cricket stadium and open air theatre in Beedenagudde ground. Introducing hi-tech bus stops in almost all bus stops in CMC limits, 24 hours help line number, Malpe-Padukere bridge and Muduperampalli-Kolalagiri bridge are other promises in the manifesto.
