'It pays to be outspoken'

Challenging Character

Srinagara Kitty had a chance to experience something new on the sets of his latest film, ‘Tony’, in which he has shot many scenes along with tigers and elephants.

The best part is that these animals are not graphically generated — for a change, the scenes have been shot with real animals in Bangkok.

‘Tony’ is one among the very few Kannada movies that have gone beyond the mundane and tried to explore something new.

And Kitty thinks that he is fortunate to have had a chance to work in such a film and play a rather unusual character. “I still remember the tigers were most active in the morning and we decided to shoot only during the wee hours. When we would take the shot, the tigers would roar and there were times when my heart would skip a beat. There were six tigers and one cub. It was an unforgettable experience,” Kitty tells Metrolife. The cast also shot at the elephant village in Bangkok.

Talking about ‘Tony’, Kitty says that the movie is about the racket of manufacturing and selling weapons. “Lured by money and power, my character gets entangled in a racket. The movie is about how he manages to wriggle out of the mess he has rather innocently landed himself in,” explains Kitty.  Kitty’s next project, Appayya, is in total contrast to ‘Tony’. In Appayya, he plays a man from a village, who strays into an urban setup with no one to guide him. The story revolves around how he gets sucked into city life.

Kitty is remembered for the many challenging characters that he has essayed in the past and he’s known never to repeat roles. “The new and the unknown always excite me and I am up for more challenges, every time I sign a new project,” he explains.  Kitty feels his strength is that he’s a no-nonsense person. “It pays to be outspoken. People may not like it at first but it helps in the long run,” he signs off.
