Mard kyun nahin milte hain. Shaayar hi mile hain par pyaar karne wale nahi hain. Reiterating these lines from her upcoming film Saheb Biwi aur Gangster Returns by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mahie Gill will once again search for her onscreen love after facing debacles in life in the first part of the movie Saheb Biwi aur Gangster. Mahie is all excited to present before her fans the most challenging role of her career so far.

“The movie is an extension of the first part and this time Madhavi Devi is portrayed in a more aggressive and ambitious manner. She has entered politics and her relationship with Aditya (Jimmy Shergill) is completely shattered after the scandals exposed in the first part but her relationship with alcohol continues. She has become more daring to gain the attention of men,” explains Mahie.

Quiz her on what made the role more challenging for her and the sexy siren says, “Though there are not many bold scenes in the film in comparison to the first part but expression wise it was herculean task. Madhavi had to be drunk every time. She is a bechari women craving for love but within a moment she becomes aggressive and out of control. Frequent fluctuation was the tough part which Tigmanshu had mentioned to me before the shooting started,” she reminisces.

Therefore, to pull off the character realistically on screen, Mahie opted for methodical acting. “I was supposed to be drunk every time so I had vodka before the shoot. Considering the demand of the story and the character of Madhavi I had to go for it without any inhibitions,” says the actor.

Drinking may not have been a problem for her but bold scenes which were crucial to the first part, have always been troublesome. The actor confesses, “I am not comfortable with bold scenes. There is still a mental block about them. The presence of many people during those scenes makes me uncomfortable. Though I hadn’t done any nudity scene in Dev D, I got many scripts that demanded flesh show after it released. I rejected those proposals but Saheb, Biwi... had more to it besides the sex scenes.”

However, Mahie’s confidence and acting talent makes her the first choice of directors who like to portray women in intense roles. “I feel lucky to be getting such roles. I have entered Bollywood at a time when heroines have a larger to play like their male counterparts. My roles may be intense or tragic but they will never make audience cry. Instead they add enjoyment to the film,” replies Mahie. Is she reluctant to experiment with comedy and action genre? “No, I want to do an action or a horror film. I want to bring out the best in me by doing every genre of film,” she says.

Blessed with extraordinary acting skill, Mahie shares one peculiar aspect with Metrolife when questioned about what are the efforts she puts in to polish her skills.
“It’s funny but after completing the scene I go to my vanity van and repeat the same sequence again in front of the mirror. I suppose people do it before the scene shoot but I don’t know why I do it after the scene,” chuckles Mahie.
