Police arrested three youths, alleged to be members of a notorious ‘Mast Gang’, on charges of robbery from outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area on Thursday and recovered 11 motorcycles stolen by the trio.

The case came to the light when the complaint Rahul and his friend Shyam called the Sultanpuri police station on Thursday after two people injured the complainant with a knife and robbed them off their motorcycle.

Team formed

Subsequently, a police team was formed led by sub inspector Rajendra Tomar, under the overall supervision of Assistant Commissioner Police (Sultanpuri) D S Bhaskar. They received information that the accused used to frequent Delhi’s AB Extension Road with the stolen motorcycles. Subsequently, a trap was laid and the trio was eventually arrested.

According to the police, the trio – identified as Kunal, Rohit and Jitendra – had expensive tastes and in order to sustain their sumptuous lifestyle, used to steal and sell motorcycles. The police further described the trio as professional criminals, who have stolen motorcycles from many parts of Delhi including Nangloi, Subhash Place and Punjabi Bagh among others.

Three quizzed

Police said the three men have been questioned about their accomplices and the reach of their network. The alleged ring leader Jitendra, 32, is a resident of Delhi’s Kirari region and worked as an auto-lifter in the gang.

Rohit, 20, is a resident of North Delhi’s Mangolpuri area whereas 21-year-old Kunal lived in Sultanpuri. They have had cases registered at different police stations in Delhi.
