Rider knocked down

According to the police, Gurulingappa (45), a resident of Ganapathi Nagar in Laggere, was on the way to the railway station to drop his neighbour, Usha, when the accident occurred. The pillion rider has sustained minor injuries. The body was handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem at M S Ramaiah Hospital.
 
Shop burgled

As many as 15 sewing machines have been stolen from a shop on Hosur Road Cross. The incident came to light on Tuesday when the Gokuldas Garments reopened after Deepavali holidays. According to the police, the incident probably happened on Sunday.

House theft

Gold earrings worth Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 cash were stolen from a house in Subramanya Pura on Tuesday. Rajesh (36), a legal advisor and resident of Shreyas Colony, had gone to his friend's house in Vidyaranyapura on Tuesday. On his friend's request, he stayed there and returned only at 8 am on Wednesday. Thieves had broken open the back door lock to gain entry.

Film producer in court

Kannada film producer and director Dinesh Gandhi was on Wednesday arrested and produced in the 5th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court in connection with a cheque dishonour case. However, he was released on bail after he paid furnished a bond for Rs 50,000.

Chandrashekhar, a financier, had filed a case against Dinesh Gandhi after a cheque of Rs four lakhs, which he had given to him, was dishonoured. The court had issued a warrant against the producer last week which was executed by Sanjaynagar Police who arrested him from his residence at Swimming Pool Layout. Dinesh Gandhi has made Kannada films like ‘Cheluvi’ and ‘Veera Madakari.’

Pirated DVDs seized

The Fraud and Misappropriation Squad of the CCB Police have seized 9,110 pirated DVDs and MP3 CDs worth Rs nine lakhs and arrested five persons in Kalasipalya on Tuesday. Stephen Raj, Babu, Ravi Kumar, Khaleel and Arun Kumar were selling pirated DVDs of Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu films at a  shop owned by the BBMP in Kalasipalya Bus Stand premises. Murugesh, a shop keeper at Burma Bazaar, Chennai who sent the pirated DVDs is absconding. 

Five held for murder

Rajgopal Nagar Police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of an industrialist’s son. Shivshankar (24), Manjunath (23), Rajesh (25), Lohit (21), all residents of Hegganahalli, and Rohit Kumar (24), a resident of Abbigere, had allegedly murdered Chetan (23) near Peenya Industrialist Area on October 14.

According to the police, a love affair between Shruthi, Shivshankar’s cousin and the deceased is said to be the motive.
