<p> T Kumar, 32, who tried to a broker peace between two warring groups was hacked to death by one of them on Saturday afternoon in Cement Colony off JC Road. <br /><br /></p>.<p>A resident of Vinoba Nagar slum, Kumar, worked as a mason and social worker in the area. <br /><br />Kumar had gone to meet Shankar, who, the previous day, had attacked one of the boys from Vinoba Nagar slum. However Shankar, and his associates, assaulted Kumar with lethal weapons accusing him of siding with his area boy. Kumar sustained a severe head injury. The other two with him also sustained minor injuries in the attack. However, they fled, carrying Kumar, who had collapsed in a pool of blood. <br /><br />Though rushed to Nimhans Hospital, Kumar succumbed to his injuries. <br />Sunil, a close associate of Kumar, told Deccan Herald that the previous day, Shankar and his men had attacked Sundar from their area in Tilak Nagar.<br /><br /> Sundar has been hospitalised at Victoria Hospital in critical condition. Sunil said Sundar had extra marital affair with Hemalatha, resident of Cement Colony and her husband had hired Shankar to assault Sundar on Friday evening. An attempt to murder case was registered at Tilak Nagar Police Station against Shankar and his associates. <br /><br />Kumar, on Saturday, intending to broker peace between the two warring groups had gone to meet Shankar, when he was attacked. Rajeshwari, second wife of Kumar said, at around 4:30 pm, Shankar came to their house along with his men and randomly vandalised the window panes and vehicles parked. <br /><br />A tense situation prevailed at Vinoba Nagar slum. The police, who rushed to the spot, resorted to light caning to maintain law and order. Kalasipalya Police have registered a murder case against Shankar and seven of his associates and are investigating the case. Two special teams have been formed to nab the culprits who are absconding. <br /></p>
