Congress has made most of its gain from the BJP, denting the prospects of the saffron party in at least four wards. It has also wrested three wards from JD(S) fold too.

M D Parthasarathy of BJP lost to N Sunil Kumar of Congress in ward four. In the previous council, H N Muralidhar Jetty of BJP had represented ward 10. Denied of ticket to Jetty, M C Chikkanna a former corporator had contested from the same party but he had to accede defeat to M Suneel of Congress.

Similarly, in ward 15, a BJP stronghold once, Congress’ Manjula Manasa has made inroads defeating her nearest rival of BJP B B Vanaja. Earlier, Sunanda Phalanetra had represented the ward.

Sunanda Phalanetra contested the recently concluded polls on KJP ticket. Another BJP corporator K M Shankar lost to G S Jagadish of Congress in ward 22.

Ninganna of BJP had to concede defeat to JD(S) candidate Balu at ward 19.

At wards 28, 29 and 34, the JD(S) lost to Congress and at wards 43 and 48 JD(S) had to taste defeat at the hands of independents.
At ward 39, it’s an Independent again.
