PUC examinations to begin today; women members in squads

A total of 32,403 students from the district will appear for second PU examinations, which will begin today. The examination will be held till March 28.

Among the candidates appearing for the examinations, 4,528 are repeating the examinations. The number of students from arts stream are 13,456, commerce - 3,261, and science - 9,686.

A total of 44 examination centres are present in the district, with 24 of them in Mysore city limits. The rest are located in six taluk centres of the state, with four centres in T Narsipura and Piriyapatna and three each in K R Nagar, Hunsur, H D Kote and Nanjangud taluk.

To check malpractice at the examination hall, 12 inspection squads have been formed. Four squads will monitor examination centres in city limits, two squads in Piriyapatna and one each in H D Kote, Nanjangud, K R Nagar, T Narsipur and Hunsur taluks.

A women member will be present in each of the squads. Prohibitory orders are in place around all examination centres in the district.

Hassan district

The district has a total of 17,744 students writing second pre-university exams which will start from March 13 in 36 exam centres. 

As many as 14,358 candidates are freshers among 17,744, while 6,108 of them are boys and 8,250 are girls. 2,032 members are repeaters and 1,084 are private students appearing second PU exams.

The arts section has 8,732 students, commerce has 4,676 and science has 4,336 students appearing for the exams.

In 12 exam centres at Hassan taluk, a total of 5,116 students comprising of 2,097 boys and 3,019 girls will be appearing for the exam.

Two centres at Alur taluk will have 316 boys and 375 girls (total 691), three centres at Holenarsipura taluk will have 432 boys and 556 girls (total 988), Sakaleshpur taluk has one centre with 215 boys and 335 girls (total 550), Arkalgud taluk has four centres with 598 boys and 862 girls (total 1460), Belur taluk has three exam centres with 607 boys and 808 girls (total 1415), Chennarayapatna taluk has four centres with 792 boys and 970 girls (total 1762), Arsikere taluk has seven centres with 1051 boys and 1325 girls (total 2376) appearing for the second PU exams.

Three centres are identified as sensitive centres and special squad have been deployed there. Two squads each at Arsikere and Arkalgud taluk, three teams in Hassan, one each in Sakaleshpur and Alur will operate from the time of commence of the exam till the end.
Deputy director of pre-university education department Rajamma said, principals will head the squad teams.

Deputy commissioner has directed for prohibitory orders around 200 metre of examination centres, on the days of the exams from 9 am to 5.30 pm.
