4 'moral police' held for attack

As many as four were arrested and were produced before court in connection with the moral policing act that took place in Kaup on Wednesday.

Sources in the police department said that the four accused Jalaluddhin, Tousif, Mobin and Nasir were arrested and were produced before the court. All are localities and are from Ucchila and Kaup. They attacked two Hindu boys while returning from Rajatadri in Manipal along with their classmates.

There were two Muslim girls and the group attacked the students and thrashed the boys severely. The sources added the accused have agreed against the crime and it is said that they indulged in such violence owing to the presence of Muslim girls in the student group.

All  accused are in the age group of 23 to 30. Investigation is continued and search is on for the other accused who were involved in the incident.
