Woman sets herself abalze

After a tiff with her husband, a woman set herself ablaze at her house on Amrutahalli Main Road on Thursday evening.

While the woman died of burns on the spot, her husband, who tried to rescue her, has also suffered serious injuries. He is being treated at the Victoria Hospital and his condition is stated to be critical.

The woman has been identified as Bayyamma, 30. She was married to Anand Kumar, 38, and the couple have two sons – Karthik, 6, and Bharath, 5. While Anand works as a mechanic, Bayyamma was a housewife.

The police said that Anand suspected the fidelity of his wife leading to a bitter fight. Dejected, Bayyamma allegedly poured kerosene over herself and set herself ablaze. Anand rushed to help and tried to douse the fire.

In the process, he too suffered severe burns. The police rushed Anand to Victoria Hospital.
