<p>For Uttar Pradesh policeman, women, who approach them with their complaints alone and after dark are indecent and should be taught a lesson.<br /><br /></p>.<p>A woman was allegedly slapped and shooed away from a police station in Barabanki district when she tried to lodge a complaint against those who had thrashed her only because she had ‘dared’ to go the police station alone and after dark.<br /><br />According to reports, the woman, a resident of Kauria Majre Kanwan village, was allegedly thrashed by some villagers on Sunday afternoon following an altercation over a piece of land. <br /><br />She reached Haidergarh police station around seven in the evening and asked the cops to lodge an FIR against the culprits.<br /><br />Indecent <br /><br />However, station in-charge R D Yadav allegedly slapped the woman and reprimanded her for coming to the station alone and after dark saying that only ‘indecent’ women did so.<br />“I have only tried to teach her a lesson. Now she will never go to a police station alone and after dark,” Yadav said. <br /><br />He husband said he would approach senior police officers and apprise them about the incident.<br /><br />Senior police officers said they will look into the matter and take action against the cop if allegations were found to be true.<br /><br />The incident comes hardly a day after chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said action will be taken against cops who do not take complaints seriously.<br /><br />A few days back, an station house officer (SHO)had thrown a birth day party inside a police station in Muzaffarnagar district during which the police station had virtually turned into a bar and was closed to people for the whole night.<br /><br />Five cops, including the SHO R N Singh have been suspended after the incident.<br />UP police have drawn flak in the past for their utter disrespect to human rights and for conniving with the high and mighty and implicate the innocents. <br /><br />Only recently, the cops had allegedly abandoned their senior officer, a DSP, leaving him in the lurch when the latter was surrounded by a frenzied mob in Pratapgarh district. The DSP was brutally killed by the mob.</p>
