The City Police have reportedly arrested Hassan, one of the suspects who hacked Mohammed Yasin to death in KG Halli on Tuesday morning. The assailant had also attacked Irfan Khan in D J Halli, within hours of the first attack.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) T G Krishna Bhat said four special teams were investigating the case.

Investigations revealed that Mohammed Ameen, who has three attempt to murder cases against him at the KG Halli police station, was on his way to court, when he was attacked by a gang. While he escaped unhurt, his brother Mohammed Yasin was killed in the attack.
It is suspected that Mohammed Toufeeq, another strongman in the area, and his gang had planned to eliminate Ameen and Irfan on Tuesday. Yasin and Toufeeq had been arrested earlier and were out on bail.

Mohammed Matin, elder brother of Ameen and Yasin, told Deccan Herald that Toufeeq had attacked Akram, a close associate of Ameen, two years ago and that Ameen had retaliated. However, elders from the community brokered peace between the two. Of late, there was friction between the two again.

Released on bail

Investigations revealed that Hassan, belonging to Toufeeq’s gang, had recently been arrested in an attempt-to-dacoity case by the Shivajinagar police. He had been lodged at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons. Hassan was released on bail, 20 days ago.

Police sources said a few associates of Ameen had attacked Hassan when the latter was in jail. This had intensified the rivalry between the two gangs. Toufeeq and his gang were planning to take revenge on Ameen and his close confidante, Irfan Khan.

Toufeeq’s gang also had information that Ameen and his men were plotting to eliminate him.
