BSR Congress to go it alone

Last Updated 21 March 2013, 18:20 IST

Dismissing the reports that BSR Congress would merge with the BJP, the party’s founder president B Sriramulu on Thursday said that his party would contest all the 224 Assembly seats on its own.

Addressing reporters after a meeting of senior leaders of the party here, Sriramulu said the BSR Congress will not have any alliance with other parties during the elections.

The list of candidates is being prepared and would be announced shortly. Actors Rakshita Prem and Pooja Gandhi will contest the polls as BSR Congress nominees. The constituencies from where they would make their poll debut would be decided shortly, he added.

The party would soon come out with its manifesto and, its leaders would tour the entire state in 27 campaign vehicles, he said. To a query, Sriramulu said there were no differences between him and party’s vice president and legislator G Somashekara Reddy.

Sriramulu alleged that the Election Commission of India’s decision to hold single phase polls for the Assembly was part of a larger conspiracy of national parties to kill regional parties. “We will have a little time for campaigning because of single phase elections,” he remarked.
