The BBMP authorities have lodged a complaint with the Chandra Layout police against the Congress party for allegedly violating the election code of conduct.
The BBMP Assistant Revenue Officer Byre Gowda lodged a complaint and the police registered cases under Sections 123 and 125 of the Representation of the People Act.
The Congress party had organised a function to invite various local leaders to the party, without taking the prior permission, on 80 Feet Road in Chandra Layout.
Govindarajanagar MLA Priyakrishna was one of the guests. The event was over by the time the BBMP staff reached the venue. They lodged the complaint based on the invitation, said the police.
